Alternative Energy Projects

The Pennsylvania Alternative Energy Investment Act has allocated $605 million for development programs and for use in alternative and renewable energy projects, with awards and funding to commence in 2009. Programs administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, the Department of Environmental Protection and the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority, include:

  • $165 million in loans and grants for alternative energy production and clean energy projects, including site preparation
  • $100 million in loans, grants, reimbursements and rebates for solar energy projects implemented by small businesses and homeowners
  • $92.5 million in loans, grants, reimbursements and rebates for energy conservation projects implemented through 2016 by small businesses and home owners
  • $80 million in loans and grants for solar energy production projects
  • $50 million in transferable tax credits for the construction of alternative energy production facilities or the implementation of alternative energy projects through 2016
  • $40 million in investments for early stage technological development activities through 2012
  • $25 million in loans and grants for geothermal or wind energy projects
  • $25 million in loans and grants for building construction or renovation projects utilizing green technologies for small businesses and homeowners
  • $25 million in grants for pollution control technology projects for small coal-fired electric generating or cogeneration units

We have successfully secured and implemented over $300 million from discretionary state and local funding programs in dozens of projects for our clients and have extensive experience negotiating and securing tens of millions of dollars in funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority, specifically.
